STEP: 1
How to Creating and Setup a project in DaVinci Resolve (Project Settings)
After successful installation of DaVinci Resolve, click on DaVinci Resolve application. Project Manager Page will be opened. Select new project on bottom right side and give name to that project. DaVinci Resolve interface will be displayed with your project name. Before we importing the footage, you need to do project settings.
Project Settings
For the Project Settings, select the cog button which is at the bottom right corner of the davinci interface.
Next in the master settings choose the Timeline Resolution and Timeline Frame rate (DaVinci Resolve has 24fps as default frame rate). You will choose based on your footage.
If you have footage in raw, select your relavant camera from Camera Raw option in the left side of main settings. These settings will give you the best result based on your footage.

Import footage in DaVinci Resolve
To import your footage, there are so many ways. They are
- File menu -> Import -> Media -> then select your footage from folders in your system
- By using folders or files on the top left corner in the Media page
- By opening folder on your system, select footage and drag to media pool window
- From the cut and edit tabs, right click -> import media in the media pool window

How to cut(Trim) footage in DaVinci Resolve
After importing the clips into media pool, then its time to trim the footage (trim according to which portion we want). For this you can move to cut page from media page. Then double click the clip in media pool, then it will come to video preview window. Here we can trim the footage by setting the in and out points.
- First you can set the playhead, where you wish the clip to begin and press ‘i’ on the keyboard for marking the in point.
- Next set the playhead, where you wish the clip to end and press ‘o’ on the keyboard for marking the out point.
Late, if you want to change in/out points, you can simply move the playheads and set the in/out points.

How to bring footage into timeline
Firstly, you can move to Edit page. Next add a clip to the timeline, simply drag the clips from preview window(after setting the in and outpoints). if you don’t want to do any change in the footage, you can directly select the clip from media pool and drag to the timeline. In the timeline, you can manage(moving/rearrange) the sequence of clips by just dragging. you can review your clip by setting the playhead to start of the clip and press spacebar on keyboard.

Editing footage in the timeline
If you want to Edit the clip in the timeline, you can use the Blade tool which is located on the top of the timeline. by this, we can split/cut the clip. then select the Select tool for adjusting(delete) the clip. or we can simply select the start/end of the clip in the timeline and drag where you want to start/end the clip.

Remove footage in the timeline
To remove the specific footage in the timeline, you can select that clip and simply click the delete button on the keyboard. It will delete the footage along with the space. If you want to delete only the footage, then you click the backspace button on the keyboard.

How to add B-Roll footage in DaVinci Resolve
Firstly, you can import the B-roll footage into the media pool. Then drag that footage into the timeline and place it on top of the main footage.

How to add audio in DaVinci Resolve
You can import the Audio into the media pool. Then drag the audio clip into the timeline and place the bottom( where we have audio tracks) of the main footage.

How to add Titles in DaVinci Resolve
In the Effects tab, select the Titles option from the toolbox. In that, you can select the text, which you want to use. Then simply, drag that title into the timeline and place it on top of the main footage. Next, to edit the title with suitable text, select the title and go to the inspector tab which is on the top right corner. In this, we can adjust text font, style, size, and other formatting options.

How to add Transitions in DaVinci Resolve
In the Effects tab, select the Video Transitions option from the toolbox. Then select the specific transition from the list of transitions, and drag it & place it between two clips. If you want to make any changes or adjustments to the transition then select transition in the timeline and go to the inspector tab which is in the top right corner. Then adjust according to your wish.

How to use Color Correction/Color Grading in DaVinci Resolve
One of the most advanced tools in DaVinci Resolve is the Color Page. which will give an effective look to your footage by adding Color grading and color correction. Once you click the color page at the bottom of the daVinci interface. It will display the color correction tools. Mostly you will use the Color Wheels option to grade your footage. The following three are the basic grading adjustments. They are
if you want to adjust the dark parts, use a lift wheel.
if you want to adjust the midtones, use the Gamma wheel.
if you want to adjust the bright parts, use the Gain wheel.
if you don’t know the adjustments, you can simply select the Auto Balance option on the first left of the color wheels option.

How to Export a File in DaVinci Resolve
After completing the editing portion, you can move to the deliver page which is in the bottom of the daVinci interface. Then you can give the title, and location, select the format, codec, Resolution(basic resolution is 1920*1080 HD), and Frame rate(basic frame rate is 24), and then click on Add to render queue. Then click on the Render All option on the right side of the daVinci interface. It will automatically save the file into your mentioned location.
